Just to get this out of the way: yes, I do have too much time on my hands. Sometimes.

Anyway, a lull in activity from Jakks Pacific and Round 5, despite the holiday rush, prompted me to think of ways to help get MMAFigs.com through the winter months. One of my bright (supposedly) ideas was "PC with PD", which fans of the site can check out here. Another idea was this- a "pic match" that I had been thinking of doing for quite some time.

Doing a "pic match" or an animated match has always fascinated me, and while I'll make no lofty proclamations of my skill, it's something I always wanted to try out. I orginally wanted to place this all inside of one of the Jakks Pacific Octagons, but due to time and shooting restraints I was unable to set up my camera correctly and get the best shots possible, at least in my own opinion. What follows may be a bare-bones experiment, but it's one that I'm proud of nonetheless.

As the title states, this is "Round 1" of a scheduled four-round "fight". Look for the next few rounds to be uploaded within the preceding days/weeks, depending on my work schedule and other MMAFigs.com obligations. Since this is just a pet project, it may be put on the backburner if something major happens to pop up. If not, then it's just a matter of timing and motivation.

Speaking of motivation, in order to encourage and spotlight the "pic match" community, I'm sponsoring a bit of a mini-contest here at MMAFigs.com.

All you have to do is submit an MMA match to pdw2kx@yahoo.com. Please link to a place where your match is hosted online, instead of sending me the raw pictures or animation. Anything will do: photobucket, youtube, etc. Here are some additional stipulations.

1. One entry per person.

2. No full events, just one "match".

3. Pictures and animations are both accepted.

4. Amount of pictures or length of animation does not figure into who wins the competition. This is a case of "quality over quantity".

5. I'll be the only one judging this contest. If you can't handle a little rejection, please don't apply.

And that's it. The winner of the contest will have his match featured on MMAFigs.com, and I will personally be interviewing the winner to get his thoughts on the creation process, his unique way of creating a custom match, and more.

But Lesnar is having none of it. Both fighters are ready for a war! Neither hesitate to engage, each making their way straight towards their opponent. Lesnar looking to load up a big punch! Mir ducks it and shoots for a takedown! Mir attempts to trip the leg of Lesnar to bring the big man down! Lesnar remains calm and looks for a reversal. Lesnar looking to make Mir pay for over-committing to the takedown! Lesnar falls right into half-guard! What a reversal! Lesnar looks to free some space so he can begin raining down some Ground & Pound! Lesnar switches to a more advantageous position while Mir holds on firmly. Mir's tight grip won't stop Brock from loading up a shot! Lesnar boxes Mir's ears in order to loosen Mir's grip. And it works! Lesnar looks to start throwing some hurting bombs. Another shot to the ear, Mir looks a little dazed! Lesnar shoves his elbow into Mir's chest and finally pries open Mir's grip! Lesnar with a huge elbow! Mir looks hurt! Lesnar looking to free up his leg! Lesnar is able to open Mir's half-guard! Lesnar switches to side control, more Ground and Pound must be coming up! Lesnar adjusting and finding his balance. Lesnar looking for a knee! And he gets it! Mir blocked it a little with his arm, but from that height it had to have hurt! Lesnar looking for another knee... ...But Frank Mir attempts a switch! Lesnar was caught off guard, but his sheer size and strength allow him to remain on top, albeit now in a north-south position. Lesnar loading up a short-arm punch... Right to the ribs! Lesnar going for another punch.. But Mir rolls again! Mir just won't give up! Now it's Mir who's on top in the north-south position! Mir looking for a knee? And it's to the shoulder! A few inches to the right and Mir could have gotten himself disqualified! He's really going for it all in this fight! Mir looks to isolate an arm. And he's done it! But what will the submission specialist do with it? Mir is attempting to pin down Lesnar's arm! Lesnar's arm is now trapped in-between Frank Mir's legs! Mir is looking to isolate Lesnar's other arm! Lesnar is now virtually defenseless! Mir is going to try and open up with some heavy hands! And a big shot right to Lesnar's nose! Mir winding up again.... And another shot to Lesnar! Mir looks to be setting up another attack... And this time it's a short-arm elbow! Lesnar can't take much more of this! Lesnar is beginning to posture up! Lesnar looking to throw Mir right off of him, and he's almost got it! But wait! Mir is hanging on somehow! Lesnar is still trapped! Mir is cancelling out Lesnar's brute strength with some smart technique! Lesnar tries to adjust his positiioning, but there's little he can do! Mir looking to land another blow... And he does! Frank Mir is landing hammerfists on Brock Lesnar! Lesnar has had enough of being on the denfensive and begins to make his move! But Mir once again transitions and finds himself in the dominant position! What a display by the grappling wizard! Lesnar is once again at a loss as Mir postures up for more big shots! A crackling fist! Lesnar is in rough shape! Mir loading it up... And lands another hammerfist! The fight may be stopped if Lesnar remains unable to defend himself! But the fight isn't finished just yet! Mir continues to hang on while Lesnar looks to be setting up something. Lesnar is posturing up! Mir is on his back and Lesnar is posturing up! Lesnar gets to a knee! What an incredible display of strength! Lesnar is on both legs! Mir continues to clutch on! Mir is going for a ride! Unbelievable! Lesnar dead-lifts Mir up off the ground and onto his shoulders! Lesnar is an absolute beast! Big slam coming up! And he nails it! Frank Mir is deposited onto the canvas nearly neck-first by a huge Brock Lesnar slam! And Lesnar has finally broken Mir's grip! Lesnar immediately looking to switch to a dominant position! Lesnar looks to be trying for the Mount position! Lesnar's almost got it... But Mir almost immediately tries a counter! Mir has left himself open, but Lesnar couldn't possibly... He's going for it! I can't believe it! Lesnar has Mir in a Triangle Choke! Lesnar may submit Mir! What an amazing fight! Mir doesn't look like he'll be submitting any time soon, and begins to posture up. Mir twisting and looking to escape out the back door! And he's done it! Mir, the Brazilian Jui Jitsu black belt, remained calm and has now escaped! Mir attempts to switch up to a better position.... But Lesnar won't give Mir a second and attempts a Monkey Roll! Mir is caught by surprise and thrown off-balance! Lesnar lands back in north-south position! Lesnar looking to switch some things up... First by transitioning his arm onto Mir's stomach.... Then snaking it through. Lesnar is finally in a dominant position once again, and he's not going to waste it! Lesnar immediately fires off a big punch! Lesnar looks to put even more power behind his next blow... But leaves himself open for another Frank Mir counter-grapple! Mir attempts to hold Lesnar down, possibly looking for a guillotine... But Lesnar has none of it and begins to brute-strength his way up. Lesnar leaves his neck exposed and Mir attempts to lock in a Muay Thai Clinch. And he's got it! Despite being tied up in a Thai Clinch, Lesnar looks to clip Mir with a hard right. Lesnar lands a grazing punch, but it's mostly blocked by Mir's arm. Mir with a whip in the Thai Clinch! Mir looks to be setting up a knee... And it lands flush on Lesnar's face! Lesnar is rocked! He stumbles back... But Mir catches him with a huge left hook! Brock is on wobbly legs! And he's down! Mir has grounded Brock Lesnar with a thunderous onslaught! Mir bull-rushes Lesnar to keep the big man down. Mir has Lesnar's back! Brock Lesnar is in deep, deep trouble! Mir is looking for a Rear Naked Choke! Lesnar tries to twist and slip out of Mir's grip... But this only allows Mir to get his hooks in! Lesnar attempts to relieve some of the pressure on his stomach by pushing off one of Mir's legs... But Mir traps the arm! Lesnar is once again near-defenseless! And he's got the choke! Frank Mir has the choke! Lesnar will either tap or get put to sleep! Lesnar refuses to quit! It's lights out or nothing! Mir continues to wrench in that choke! How is Lesnar still conscious?! And he's survived! Lesnar has survived! Round 1 is over! Brock, saved by the bell, immediately gets out of Frank Mir's grip. Both men are slow to get up after an exhausting round of action. Both men are on their feet.... And Lesnar wants to show some respect? But what's this? Lesnar shoves Mir! Both men were hurt and nearly finished, but this fight has only just begun!
