i had just placed an order with EE when i decided to call and see if they had any news on when the order would be filled and they said that they really didnt know...OK so here we go i then called JAKKS and asked them..the lady i spoke with "Donna"said that what was out there was all that was being released and that they will be clearing the remaining inventory through K-MART as exclusives.
WTF she also said that they have the license through mid 2013.

is anyone really surpised? if TRU, Walmart and Target don't take new products from you its your death certificate.
At the end of the day, there's just not a mass market for UFC figures. The sport isn't established enough in the mainstream (this is how McFarlane survives) and kids just don't give a crap about UFC.
R5 is the lone wolf now but its pretty easy to figure out they are going to live and die with a few key relationships (WalkoutWear). They do have some retail distribution but its "spotty" and very inconsistent, the Walmarts near me for example still stock series 2!!! Its also become pretty clear they are cutting corners, reusing bodies, repainting figures calling them variants and selling them at a premium, people questioning how "limited" the limited editions really are.
I'm a passionate collector of R5 but its hard to disagree with iceman in that some of the sculpts are atrocious (maynard, belfort and rogan all come to mind).
If I could put Jakks head scans (talking about the later series) on the Round 5 style of collectable that would be the PERFECT combo.
a note on the license...
R5 has the UFC license as well. Its a shared license between Jakks and Round 5. You can find this information quite easily on the internet. Just google "Jakks and Round 5 license"
ok 2 kind of different answers..my lady told me that K-mart would only be receiving the left over inventory to sell as exclusives and yours said they would be releasing in the fall? wtf i have collected this line from the beginning and the lack of news is really fkn disrespectful to the people that collects ufc merchandise.
i'd assume its either one of two things...
they'll just resell older series/figures they have sitting at the distribution centres through kmart at cut rate prices and call them "exclusives". They did this with series 8 and 9 at walmart in canada, they were on sell for 5 bucks a piece.
OR
they may have some figures that might have been produced but just never were released yet to mass market and they will sell those to kmart as exclusives. just because we saw prototypes doesn't mean they ever went into actual production.
i just would like an answer..where the hell is the guy that had answers on here a few months ago
i've been wondering...
the JAKKS WWF Classics Line was HUGE for them but you have to assume a lot of buyers of that line were "older guys" who had a lot of familiarity with the wrestlers and the nostalgia factor is always huge. Its no different how people get excited whenever Jakks/Round 5 made a legend figure.
I've always wondered whether JAKKS assumed the UFC line would be like the WWF classics line?
Or did they really think kids would be interested in UFC figures (I seriously hope not because that's some awful market research).
Regardless, this sucks because I thought from series 3 onward MOST of the sculpts were really good. Shame.
